Federal Tax zero, Calif State Tax not zero

I am modeling moving into a Continuing Care community. 30% of the entry fee and 30% of the monthly fee is tax deductible as a medical expense the first year. As expected, This profile shows zero Fed tax due the first year but several thousand $ of Califoria Tax. I know CA is a crazy tax state but this is clearly an error. To check, I modeled this profile in the latest TurboTax and it shows zero for both Federal & CA tax. Could you look into this?
Thanks
James

Hi James,

You probably know much more about CA state tax than I do, but it's not clear to me that it's an error. I'm not doubting you really, just saying that given how complex tax is it's possible that ESPlanner has more info than does Turbo Tax? Is SS being taxed at some percentage rate? Is there some other cap gains income or something like that. I just don't have enough info here to even begin to make a judgment. You could share your database and I could take a look. I can ask our tax auditor if there's any outstanding issues for CA taxes and let you know.

Dan

Hi Dan, I'd like to send you just this profile. How do I do that? Do I need to create a duplicate database and then delete all the other profiles?
Thanks
James

You'd want to create a support ticket and upload it there.

I asked our tax auditor here and he said that CA taxes should be in pretty good shape.

Dan, I tried to upload the database but I get an error "The file could not be created" Did you receive the support ticket?
