Can you turn off spousal Social Security benefits in ESP?

According to the SSA, (http://www.ssa.gov/pubs/EN-05-10007.pdf) if you receive a pension from a federal, state or local government based on work where you did not pay Social Security taxes, your Social Security spouse’s or widow’s or widower’s benefits may be reduced. Your Social Security benefits will be reduced by two-thirds of your government pension.
How can I instruct ESP to not grant, or grant at the reduced rate, spousal benefits under such a condition.
Thank you.

You currently cannot indicate in ESPlanner that you are exempt from the Goverment Pension Offset provision.
Adding this feature is on our to do list.
In the interim, if you are exempt you will need to use a special receipt restore the Social Security benefit reduction.

Oh, but I don't want to indicate that spouse is exempt. I want ESP to apply the Government Pension Offset provision and not give spouse spousal Social Security benefits. In my current plan, ESP is giving her spousal Social Security to which she is not entitled. Is there a work-a-round to take her spousal benefits away?

I think Mike didn't read your question carefully. Just enter the pension as not-covered by Social Security in the pensions and annuities folder. It will properly apply the GPO. best,Larry
