The estate input screen allows you to make three setttings:

  1. Desired percentage change in survivor's living standard. This setting can raise or lower the survivor's living standard, which will almost certainly change life insurance recommendations. If Jack wants his wife to have a lower living standard in the event of his death, he could enter a negative number. The impact could be to remove life insurance recommendations altogether. Conversely, making this a positive number would raise the insurance recommendations.
  2. Special bequest in today's dollars. The amount you enter here will mean that the plan (including insurance recommendations) will be created with the assumption that this amount of money will be needed to give to some person or charity outside the family in any given year of death.
  3. Funeral expenses. The amount you enter here indicates how much you intend to spend on funeral expenses. This could influence insurance recommendations as well.
